Presentation (Michael Bierut)

In my group, our topic is focusing on Michael Bierut: MIT Media Lab Logo Design Process. Our aims is to focus on how the designs were inspired by different areas such as designers and their works, buildings/ architecture an the MIT Media Lab. We found that the design was mainly inspired by the 7 x 7 grid from the 25th anniversary logo design and the 1960s MIT press logo which designed by Muriel Cooper who was an eminent twentieth century graphic designer.  In my opinion, I think the task is really inspiring me as I could see many inspirations that inspired different designers. I really like the book that Michael Bierut published ( the middle one in the right).

In this book, it showed a lot of designs that designed by Michael Bierut. Hence, I can look at his designs and inspire me which is really good to my study. I really like his quote- Use graphic designs to sell things, explain things, make things look better, make people laugh, make people cry, and(even once in a while) change the world. I think he covered the purpose of graphic design just in a sentence. I think this sentence is really inspiring me, I will keep remember it and think about it when I am designing.
